Today was a great day. Set up was stressless, Rehersal and Sound check were normal, our sound guys did an amazing job. All the tech went pretty smooth today. The band played really well. We played "Nail My Glory" with is an Isacc Watts song redone by: NA band from Sovereign Grace Church in MD. Great words and killer music. Jess lead "Revelation Song" and sounded so good and at the end of the song we went right into the verse and chorus of Marvelous Light (the new version) by: Charlie Hall. Straight out of that we sang the chorus of "Your Blood" the modern version of "Nothing but the Blood" by: Matt Redman. We closed the morning with "Our God Saves" which is a favorite of mine and the church. I love singing that simple yet powerful truth. I love the people God has filled his church with. Such a blessing.

Right now I'm relaxing on the couch with the windows open watching Italian Soccer. "Inter VS Roma". I love watching pro soccer on a sunday afternoons. Today Jess, Nikki and I lead the worship time. Along with Kenny back on drums after a good break, and Stan got to played bass/keys today. Because we didn't have a bass player today. Need to find one more of those. I played electric and my Vox tonelab sounded like junk all morning. That was very frustrating. To be honest I'm really tired of sound issues on Sundays. Just tired of dealing with them. I'm ready to go acoustic for life. It's so much easier and stress free. But I don't really want to do that because I get to play with so many great musicians. Anyways, the songs today were a little more somber in tone than we usually do. My heart was so heavy while planning the worship time because of all that's been going on around us the last week or so. The passing of a young member here at FPC, the shootings in NC, TX and Orlando. It's just allot. I felt like we generally sing joyful songs which is fine but that this week there was a need to address the current state of our hearts and Gods heart for us during such tough times. I hope people connected with the tunes as they prayed them through song today. I have a feeling the sound might have been a distraction during the singing. My guitar really sounded muffled and dirty. Sounded like poo. Now I had prayed earlier with the band that God would use all of the morning for his purpose. The good, the bad, the rotten, all of it. So why do I worry then? Not sure. Possibly because I have things I want to see or hear and I'm not resting in God to provide regardless of what I want. My prayer is that God would move in all our churches despite our own faults, agendas, fears and so forth. And I know he is. I just wish I would trust Him more.
God help me trust you. Just like the song says.

Currently Listening to: "Return to me" by: Matthew Ryan
Matthew is one of my favorite artists. The grit & honesty of his lyrics and delivery hits home with me every time. I don't know much about him personally but when I listen to his songs I'm always led to see the trueness of my heart. You can find his CD's on Amazon or iTunes. I like all of his CDs but his debut CD "Mayday" will always be my favorite. It's a brilliant work of art that's gritty, rich, and honest. I love it! :)

I'm not sure if it was my not sleeping well last night or what, but I was off today. I heard many great things about today, but I seemed to be distracted by just about everything and therefore found myself not enjoying much. It's as if I was so performance oriented which is really not my heart, but then again maybe it is. I want things to go so well that people aren't distracted and therefore encounter God as if God needs my help with that. It's silly. Right now I'm just thinking I want God to inhabit my space, my praises, my thoughts, my breathing, my everything. I want to sit at his feet and worship him without distraction on Sundays. But then is that a reality we can have here on earth? Sundays are chaotic, full of distractions, with sound issues, baby's crying, people talking, and other things. And I'm always looking for what needs to be done or who needs to be cared for. I don't want people to be not be cared for or left behind. It's just who I am it's who I've always been. I've also thought that my frustrations today could be a result of my lack of time spent with God this week. Hmmmm? Perhaps I just think to much and need to relax and take a break. It's interesting the more things I get frustrated with the more I am brought to my knees and honestly I think that's right where God wants me and he's not gonna rest until He finds me there. Funny the first song I chose for this week was "You won't Relent" by: Misty Edwards. God knows what he is doing and I'm grateful and humbled he is pursues me and loves me.

Sunday morning was great. period. :) I don't think I've ever said that. ha. That's because I'm always having to deal with technical issues. Always. Not so this week. Thank you Chad C for coming in Saturday evening with me to set things up and for David B for mixing the sound. Now, I did throw my in-ears to the side of the stage. slightly dramatically. I know it's not the in-ears, it's the wireless packs that are screwy. But it felt good to say goodbye to those things for now :) We had placed 2 monitor wedges on stage for this sunday and it made a huge difference. Whooooo!!!! So nice. We played better too because we could hear things and there was just more presence on stage. I could hear the electric guitar and my vocals! That makes a difference. About the music...I was really moved while Nikki lead "Revelation song". Kari Jobe who? Whatever :) Nikki slammed it and so did the band. She sounded beautiful on every song she lead. All the songs were tight and sounded great. I'm truly blessed to worship with musicians who are not only great at what they do but who are also humble before God. Chad K, Leo, Stan, Chad C, and Nikki, thank you! I'm also very grateful for the sound & tech team who also did a great and they were running low on techies. Closing out Sunday was small group at our house. It's always a great way to end your weekend. I love the people in our group and watching all 10 kids play together. They have so much fun. I'm humbled to share in the blessing. Thank you God for loving a wretch like me and for the blood of Jesus the only thing that can cover my sin.

Today was a good day. We had issues with our in-ear monitors that are driving myself and the band nuts. Week in week out we have issues with those dumb things. We have the Aviom system and that's not to bad, it's the wireless receivers that are junk and very frustrating. They work, then they don't. Blah. We also noticed today that we are having speaker issues that are making things sound muddled when everyone is playing or singing together. You know it's hard to do what your there to do when you have technical issues. So frustrating. :)
What was nice and good to was the church engaging with God in prayer and song and the word. I love our pastors and their hearts. Our Fall festival was right after our worship gathering and great to see all the kids and family's hanging out together. Anyways, that was a great way to end the day outside on the front lawn of the church building overseeing Lake Hollingsworth. Last thoughts in my head this evening are that I really do need to take time off from setting up Sunday mornings. I just don't have the tech people to set everything up. So I'm going pray for that. Pray for people to set up and tear down the sound gear each week. I do have 1 guy who is very skilled with sound who sets up with me and he's also one of our drummers. I just need a few more people who are interested in the technical side of sound who can set that stuff up. God is good. I don't trust him enough not do I seek him enough.

Sunday was a great spirit lead day. I feel really blessed to share such times with the band gang and the whole church family each week. I messed up a good many times on guitar, hitting silly chords or notes here and there. Kind of frustrating. That said, it was just a powerful morning. So, now the real stuff. God is continuing to humble me and yet I still have so far to go which is scary to me. This Sunday he was right their exposing my sin and reminding me of my need for him. I am the farthest thing from perfect. I know, who isn't right. Honestly I don't know that word should even exist. There is nothing perfect outside of Jesus. I'm a mess up through and through. I'm prideful, full of habits that have hindered me most of my life, I have control issues birthed out of fears and the list just goes on. It's a humbling process when I have to sit down with the band prior to the service and ask for their forgiveness for being a jerk. I had hurt Nikki and had to ask first for her forgiveness which I did thankfully. I have had to ask for the bands forgiveness countless times over the past few years. It's a humbling thing. Anyways I know God loves me and wants to use me even in my state of brokenness. I have had this fear for years that I couldn't live up to the standard that a worship leader should live up to because of the mess that is me. I'm learning as of late to trust who God is. That He is loving and the blood of Jesus washes me clean. God help me to accept your grace and your love for me. Sunday ended with an amazing night with our small group. I've been in small groups for years, but this small group for whatever reason has been such a blessing to our family. So nice. Quinn absolutely loves it. It was a beautiful day in many ways.

Check out Fred McKinnon's site and the Sunday Set List blog he does so leader alike can learn from each other. It's been a great help to me since he started it. Thanks Fred.

Let me start with last night. I woke up at Midnight thinking it was 6:15am and that I needed to get up. Then I noticed how dark it was outside and I checked my clock. Ooops. That happened all night every hour on the hour. Sometimes all the set up on Sundays can get to me. Clearly it did this morning. We need more people on the sound crew. Chad C was our only sound guy today and he had his hands full. The band did a really good job today. Almost all of the band this week had not played together yet so they overcame any challenges that came their way. I was really proud of how they worked together. I now have 3 drummers, 2 bass players, 1 lead guitar player (need 1 more), 2 acoustic guitar player, 3 vocalist and 2 keyboard players. Plus myself on vocals, and guitars. I really love the heart of all the musicians I get to work with. Beautiful people with a love for God that really blesses our church and me. Thank you God for good pizza after church too :) Loved my lunch today!
